Event Details
At the end of this training, participants will
- Learn the concepts of professionalism and ‘relationship’ in social work and the role of self-monitoring and reflection.
- Learn about, critically discuss and practise a range of communication and interpersonal skills.
- The commencement of effective contacts with service users and colleagues;
- Active listening and attending skills;
- The role of non-verbal communication; empathy; effective use of questions; paraphrasing and summarising;
- Challenging constructively and managing conflict; the use of electronic and telephone communication; and working with people with special communication needs.

TRAINING METHODOLOGY
The training methodology combines lectures, discussions, group exercises and illustrations. Participants will gain both theoretical and practical knowledge of the topics. The emphasis is on the practical application of the topics and as a result participant will go back to the workplace with both the ability and the confidence to apply the techniques learned to their duties.
